Our Good Training Program
Since our arrival in Newham, the Good Hotel has been committed to our community vision and been active in supporting local schemes. Through our Good Training programme, delivered together with Newham Workplace, we created 60 training positions a year. The programme provides the opportunity for previously long-term unemployed people to learn new transferable skills. Our Good Trainees routinely go on to further permanent employment, with 70% finding work through our ‘match making’ service. We are dedicated to continuing to provide opportunities for Newham residents, especially at a time when employment prospects have been severely affected by the pandemic.
During the COVID-19 restrictions, which resulted in the closure of the hotel, we remained committed to helping the community in Newham by partnering with Crisis UK to support their Crisis at Christmas campaign which helps provide thousands of meals to vulnerable people over the festive period. If the Good Hotel can make Royal Victoria Dock our permanent home, we are committed to continuing our work in the community into the future.
Aside from our ongoing community mission, we are looking forward to welcoming local residents back to our restaurant and bar and to giving our neighbours a place to meet, interact and connect again. We hope that we will be able to continue providing a space for the community to enjoy in the years to come.
Community drinks
We are reopening on 17 May and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Good Hotel. Please don’t forget the 20% discount on drinks and food which neighbours are entitled to. Our beloved rooftop terrace is also open every weekend (Friday-Sunday) from 2pm - 9pm weather dependent, throughout spring and summer.
We will be restarting our drinks and nibbles events for neighbours. The first one will take place on Thursday 3 June, from 3pm-7pm, on the hotel rooftop (weather permitting). If you would like to attend please RSVP to events.london@goodhotel.co.
The Good Hotel would like to make Newham our permanent home and to continue to find new
ways to support and involve the community in our work. We would like to hear your views and to
offer you the opportunity to provide your feedback on our plan. We are keen for our neighbours
to be as involved in the process as possible and will keep you updated as the application
progresses.
The Good Hotel is keen to hear your views on how we can best continue to work with the community to provide help and training opportunities for Newham residents.
